Fellows,If you send me your Stover serial number I will be able to tell you the day and to whom your engine was shipped. For some reason, private messages doesn't appear to be working for me so please send and email or call. You can get that contact information by googling 'Gas Engine Magazine' and doing a search for Stover registry.
Also, I did a column on Stovers for five years and those articles are also at this site. Do a search at GEM for Stover or Joe Maurer to find the articles. Sometimes my email doesn't work so if all fails, call.Best Regards,Joe. Maybe one of you could help me on this.
I just posted this note some where else but it sounds like you know a lot about Stovers. I’ve got a 1927 Stover K that has a complete restoration on it.
SN is KA187555 so it must be a model KA. It runs great and is a show quality restoration.
The only problem is the excessive gear noise. I have used special heavy grease and it reduced the noise considerably but still not acceptable. The gears look like new, possibly they are just poor machining. Any ideas on how to correct the problem? I’ve considered trying to find another set of gears but haven’t seen any for sale.
Is this a problem with all Stover or just mine?Any help would be appreciated.ThanksBruce.
